Frances Featherstone is a British figurative painter whose practice investigates the psychological and emotional architecture of inhabited space. Working primarily in oil on linen, Featherstone explores the subtle, reflective intimacies of domestic life through an unconventional, structural frame.

Drawing from Gaston Bachelard’s assertion that 'inhabited space transcends geometric space,' Featherstone's paintings manipulate traditional perspective by removing the horizon line entirely. Informed by an extensive foundational background in broadcast composition and senior visual design, she employs dramatic aerial viewpoints to flatten spatial boundaries. This intentional compression transforms domestic interiors into flattened, geometric landscapes of colour, textile, and light, challenging conventional perceptions of form and environment.

Featherstone holds a First-Class BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art from the UWE. Her rapidly ascending trajectory includes major institutional accolades, notably winning The Painting Prize at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, selection for the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London, and a sell-out international debut solo exhibition at Arcadia Contemporary in New York. She lives and works in Kent, United Kingdom.
